Keep Us Safe On The 4th of July
Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:17PM Leave your dog safely in the house with a favorite treat or toy when things start getting noisy. Resist the urge to take us to the fireworks celebrations. We generally don't think it's that much fun.
If you know your friend is sound sensitive, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays. Homeopathic remedies such as lavender oil, rescue remedy or DAP (Comfort Zone) can help too.
Never leave your dog outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or tied on a leash. In their fear, dogs who normally wouldn't leave your side may get scared, run, become lost, or become entangled in their leashes.
Make sure your dog is wearing identification tags. Animal Shelters are used to finding frantic, lost animals during this time of year. Help them return your pal to you by having proper identification.
Have fun out there folks! And Happy 4th!!
